65 gmc stepside questions again

I have a gmc short step titled 65. It has rear leaf springs (should be coil) It was a rear end that I am trying to determine the year, etc.

The rear end: Counted the ratio, 3.54. Small tag on cover says 46 13 and below 3 54. So i have the ratio right. I measured the drums, 11 inches in diameter. 6 bolt axels. The rear springs have like 8 springs each. I am thinking someone swapped the rearend with a heavy duty one. Anyone have any thoghts on which one? Is this really a 65 gmc?

I am no expert by any means, but there should be indication of addition of leaf springs. Typically, unless the person had access to a car lift, the angles and room to work will leave non factory looking weld beads on the "added on " shackles and brackets. That being said, you might try posting this on the 67-72 board. There is A LOT more traffic there.

Hollanders shows 65 GMC 1/2 tons came with either 7 or 10 leafs and were available with 3.54 gears. Your set-up is probably stock.
