ive done it on a 78 k5 and got like 4.5 inches and ride was ok. I didn't get a chance to shim the uppers to correct the camber before selling it. Got another c10 and now im thinking about chopping 2 and riding it like that til I get all my bag stuff bought.

post up your rides guys. I know its been done on the site :metal:

Here's 2 coils cut on my c20 I just ordered drop spindles I had them before but swapped to 6 lug. I wouldn't go over 11/2 coils tho c10 drop spindles are pretty cheap and are much better ride I'm putting mine on air soon so it didn't bother me. Keep in mind this is a c20 and has a 305 40 22 tire a c10 will probally look a lot lower with 2 cut

Thanks, I've done several like that. Even know the shim stack to get it close too.

I use 1/2" hardened washers 9 in the rear 11 in the front and cut all the bump stop stuff off.
And a simple flip out back.

No notch either.

Is it the correct way, I don't know but it's how I do it.

I understand 1 coil is approx 2" drop, so would 2 coils be 4"?

Re: Post your c10 with 2 coils cut up front

I think I got 4 1/2

with 2 coils cut the spring is very loose when you jack truck up. and you have to make sure they stay in place where they should be as you let jack down slowly. but it wasn't often I had to jack it up so high my tires were off the ground.

Re: Post your c10 with 2 coils cut up front

best thing to do is 1 coil cut and 2.5 or 3 inch spindles. Im going to do just bags and brackets and not do spindles so I was just going to do a free drop for a couple months.

Nah, short shock and relocate the shock eye with 4wd shock bracket.
Just before the coil comes free shock runs out of travel.

Re: Post your c10 with 2 coils cut up front

What's the part number for the short shock? And does the 4x4 shock bracket just bolt on?

No clue can't recall that, it's the 2nd upper shock bracket with factory dual shocks, and yes 2 holes with 3/8 bolts.

I'd like to know more about the shock relocation. do all the frames have the holes? Do you have a part number or the model that it comes off of?

You have to drill 2 holes, as they're riveted by gm.

I happened on them on junkyard crawl.

RPO Z75 - Dual Shock option.

Available on 1/2 and 3/4 ton 4wd.

Very good idea, btw.

It's part 24 on the schematic

Re: Post your c10 with 2 coils cut up front

Sidebar: RPO Z75 is now the nameplate conversion RPO for Cadillac (ie, if you order an Escalade it would be a K10906 & Z75). Further evidence that they reuse RPO codes.

Ironically I just made a post on the subject in my latest build thread 85 GMC Sierra "Scarlett" I have a set of RideTech brackets that were part of the upgraded kit on my 77 build. I priced it as well as several other aftermarkets kits and they were all around 100.00 or higher. I thought about fabbing my own. After I then considered time and materials, that wasnt economical either. Some research lead me to another option. Pictured below are Ford F250 brackets (Yeah, I know) that can be easily purchased for 13.00 each. They will need to be cut down and fresh holes drilled, but the price makes it something worth checking out.
