Breather filter material
I have a breather on my valve cover that you can take apart. Inside there is a filter material that looks a lot like the material that is inside a fuel cell that keeps the gas from sloshing around. It is starting to fall apart. I there something that I can replace it with. It is shaped like a donut but it doesn’t have anything that goes through the canter. It is inside an empty cavity.

Re: Breather filter material
Didn't they just use to use thick steel wool for that too?

Re: Breather filter material
I stuffed some steel wool inside one once.
You can buy steel wool at the grocery store or hardware. |
Re: Breather filter material
That sounds risky. I would be afraid that it would get into the oil. I have steal wool. What grit would you recommend

Re: Breather filter material
Do you think it would work to put the stuff that is inside a fuel cell. I have plenty of that

Re: Breather filter material
My breather has a spongy foam filter inside. It's probably polyurethane like this.... https://unifilter.com/online-catalog...n-air-filters/ seems if polyurethane is good enough for them it should work for you too. Here's a little block of it on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Sculpture-Blo...a-841373556131

Re: Breather filter material
Found this on Summit. Pretty inexpensive.
Looks just like the one that is in there. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/bsp-rp2010 |
