hidden hitch for 1972, 2wd 1/2 ton suburban

Has anyone here installed one or seen one installed? I would like to be able to tow with my 'burb. The tail on these things is so long, I am a bit concerned with adding something under the bumper. Especially with mild lowering in my future plans...

I have the hitch from E/C as well as a 4/5 drop and I have never dragged the hitch. I tow 5500 GVW trailer and have had no problems for the last three years. Michael

thanks Christopher

Pictures are worth a 1000 words aren't they? Thanks Christopher! So is that the ECE hitch then? Looks perfect! Any problems with the law when you are towing with your licence plate flipped up?

Yes, that is the ECE hitch. i have never had a problem towing with the plate up. It is still visible. It rest on the hitch at about a 45 degree angle.

My brother just put the ece hitch on his 71 and had no problems at all on this trip, towed great, even with the 4/6 drop...

ece hitch

hey guys, I'm thinking of putting one on my 67 burb. ECE is about 70 miles from me, so I can drive down to p/u. Is it difficult to install? Do you have to take the bumper off first?

Thanks ,

Curley :metal:

Get a friend to help. Have a sharp bit. Don't rip, lose or destroy the paper template. It's really pretty easy.

Low burb.........

Do you happen to have a picture of your burb with the 4/5 drop? I'm really curious to see one set up that way.
