Do I need to relocate alternator to add PS?

My sister has left her 69 GMC 3/4 2wd in my care while she is on the road. She just spent $1700 on some new 17x10 or maybe 17x8 wheels and tires, not sure which, but they are a lot wider than the ones they replaced, she also just put in a small grant steering wheel. It's a manual steer truck, so now it is impossible to turn if the truck isn't moving. I would like to add Power steering for her, will the alternator need to be put on the other side of the motor to make room for the pump? I was also thinking of getting most of the parts new, pump, hoses, gear box. Other than the bracket, is there anything else I might need to do this swap that I can't get from a parts store.

No relocating needed. The p/s will fit below the alternator with no funny business needed.

I would suggest posting a wtb for a 69 for the parts on the parts board. You
will need a pump, cast iron bracket for the pump, cast pulley, hoses and steering box. You can have a problem with belt alignment if you mix parts, so getting everything together will insure that everything matches.

I am assuming that you have the stock 69 setup on your engine.

I assume everything is original, except when I was reading up on headers for this truck, they kept saying I would need to buy a bracket for the alternator since it attaches to the exhaust manifold. When I look at it, the bracket attaches to the front of the head only, and doesn't even touch the exhaust manifold.

Some heads do not have the holes on them to mount the alternator, but obviously yours does.

Pitman arm too. I can't remember, but the drag link might (I do mean might) need to change as well.

Pitman arm yes, but old drag link doesn't need to be changed.
