drop spindle question

I am interested in buying a disc brake conversion kit shortly.

Question, I have found two different drop spindles, one that needs newer version 71 to like 87 ball joints and tie rods.
The oother, that uses stock front end parts.
Seems to me the oem spindle would be better, but figured someone out here would know better than I.

Thank you.

You can go either way,& the only thing that I can think of is that the 67-70 lower a arms will limit the turning radius,if used with the later parts(use 71-72 lower arms). As far as drop,a 2 1/2" spindle would be the way to go,the 3" spindle will put the a arm closer to the ground,& could cause problems over the speed bumps or pot holes. If more drop if needed ,you can go to a 2" drop spring & still be ok on front end geometry. IMO,its a matter of what is most cost effective.....69 longhorn.

69's right. The 3" also can interfere with some rims. Most companies don't make them any more. One advantage of the 73 up spindles is the availablility of upgraded rotors at a reasonable price. The spindles are also cheaper. That said, I have the 71-72 drops spindles from ECE. Class act.
