i have two buttons on my rearview mirror, just like everyone else. but when you press one, the temp/compass turns off. when you press it again, it turns back on. same with the other. i've tried every combination, it doesnt do anything. whats the deal?

I thought that something was there to set the magnetic variation for different parts of the US... I take it that you checked the owners manual. Does it change to Celcius?

mine doesnt change to celcius.
checked the owners manual? HA! i dont need all of that "reaching" over to the glovebox, searching, and flipping through WHO KNOWS HOW MANY pages of text to read the proper way to operate my truck. who has that kind of time? i would rather just punch a few keys and laugh about chevy making two buttons that dont do anything. |

on my 98 one of them turns the auto dim mirror on and off...

My truck has the same buttons. I have always wondered what the purpose was.

The purposes of the two buttons are to calibrate the temp gauge and compass but they don't work. I asked the Chevy service attendant and he said that they don't work, never did and never will.
