71 chevy frame question....
I am Nate a newbie from Seattle and I am the proud owner of a 71 chevy fleetside longbed. It is the love of my life! But my question to anybody with an answer is this, How hard is it to cut the frame and make it a short bed? From what I have read, it is only 12" diffrence. It has a 350 with a 350 turbo and a shift kit with a 2000 stall. The rear end has stock coils. Also, how hard is it to bag the rear end? I dont like low riders, but I do want to lower it a little to give it a better stance. Thank you for any info.

Welcome to the board from South Mississippi! Check with Brad, I think he's in your area and had a shop shorten his frame. If you want to do it yourself, click on the Index link in my sig and there is a link to a frame shortening thread.

Re: 71 chevy frame question....
Welcome, from Portland Oregon. We do the frame shortning here at our shop. Just yesterday we finished up shortning the frame on a 1971 Chev Camper Special. A few years back (maybe 8 to 10 years ago) I wrote an article on shortning frames. I think they called "Short Cut" it was in Classic Truck magazine. It had step by step instructions. That will help you alot.
