2wd Lift kit?
 

i have a 1971 2wd and was wondering if there is a lift kit out there for it. If so what kind? plz and thanks

WHen I researched it the only thing available to do was use 1 ton springs to make it ride higher. I don't think an actual "lift kit" for a 2wd exists. could be wrong now though

ya idk but im not just looking for a lift kit im looking for anything that will get it up in the air :)

dont replace it with 1 ton springs!!! i did that and it works, but the ride is ROUGH! you feel like you have no suspension whatsoever in the front. You can order rubber spacers for your original 1/2 ton coil springs that work wonders. you will need a realignment for the front end afterwards.

For the rear put some blocks under the leafs. You could order some helper spring for the rear, but that will make it a rough ride in the rear. also, air bag helpers will work without making it rough, but they are more expensive and not necessary unless you are hauling a lot of weight

Back in the day, when I was building AMT model cars, the height was adjusted by the placement of the axle in the blocks that went into the chassis.

On my '69, lowering was done with spindles.

It would seem that the best way to elevate the chassis would be to position the front axle stub lower on the spindle, effectively raising the chassis.

If the goal is to imitate a pre-runner, it's gonna be special-made stuff that lets you do it. I don't think there's gonna be anything available, otherwise.

i have a 74 with the lifting blocks in rear (2") and 1/2 ton springs with spacers on mine. make it sit pretty level

well i think im going custom cuz i have got a friend whos dad is manager of team green racing with kawasaki and he knows everybody whoknows everybody so i will probably get something custom

Just go to a spring shop and get a set of springs made which have similar spring rates to what you now have, but with a couple of extra coils. This should give you about a 3" lift in the front. Anymore than 3" and you'll probably need tubular upper control arms made to clear the front suspension crossmember. Fabtech used to make the springs and upper control arms, as well as an upper ball joint spacer for the 73-87 chevy. This was easily adaptable to our trucks. But in looking at their site, I don't see the 73-87 stuff anymore.

A guy I know used Coil Spring Specialties. He was really happy with them. I'm sure they could do some lifted springs for you. The web address is www.coilsprings.com They can do a quote on line for you, but as of right now it is temporarily Out of order.

Iam trying to find one. I have pics of a 1985 pro comp lift and the frame and everything looks the same as my 72 frame

Yeah, up to 87 will work on 67-72 front cross members, but you'll also need all the drag links and tie rods for 73-87. I've used stock 73-87 components on my 67.

Look up Rancho RS6500. They are supposed to provide 1.5" lift to the front of a C20. They have me curious.

What is diffrent between the 72 and 73? It looks all the same. Even in the LMC catalog all of the pics are the same and some of the numbers match, but the prices are different!!

I purchased a 69 truck a year or so ago that had the Fabtech arms and 3" springs for the front. It also had some lifted leaves for the rear. I pulled it off to go in a "different direction". It's all on my shelf getting dusty. If you're interested shoot me a PM. It isn't the cheapest stuff... but a good way to accomplish what you are looking to do.

Any chance you still have this stuff ? Or know of a source ?!? I am trying to lift a '67 C20 with a '74 front end (disc brakes/ power steering) under it .

How high do you want to go? They have a 7" kit or you could used the 3" spring and ball joint angle adapter.

When I bought El Scorcho (PO named it) it had 3" aluminum lift spacers at all of the body, radiator support panel, and and bed mounts. (2WD coils all around). PO had to extend the master cylinder brake lines and extend the steering shaft. No other mods that I saw. He extended the steering shaft by drilling out the shear pins in the middle and drilling new holes. Remember that when you do this, the bumpers stay with the frame.
