Board member Richard Welty (Lafayette 68K20) just sent us his '68 K20 for a full frame off restoration. Truck is in pretty nice condition overall, but does have some issues that need to be attended to. We will be posting a pics in this thread as we go to keep everyone up to date. You will also be able to go to our website and see ALL the pics as we go through this truck.

Truck will be staying stock appearing, but a few options are being added like disc brakes, A/C, power steering, and other parts to make the truck more enjoyable and safer to drive. Here are the before pics as received. Enjoy!

This should be cool as long as it does not cut into the blazer progress! Also keep them parts away from the imports, we dont want any cross breading going on.

It will cut into it some. Gotta keep the bills paid. Blazer right now is also splittling time with a '57 Bel-Air 2 dr HT. I keep the projects at different stages just so I don't have two that need the same thing at the same time to keep the work flowing. Blazer I plan to be finished by April for cuising season here. This truck has a schedule for 1 year but I plan to be done before that.

My brother and I share a building and he is a huge RX7 nut. You would be amazed what he makes a year just selling used RX7 parts.

Very nice! I noticed it is a CST, but doesn't have the lower trim. Was it removed earlier in its life? Just curious.

Have not had time to update on the site, but you can see the current status of the truck at www.musclerodz.com/gallery. Mostly what has been done to this pointis collect parts. Truck should be fully stripped by next week and the frame will go out for blasting.

The devil is in the details. If you want to know how one was put together on the assembly line, look at this truck. It is an excellent survivor that is mostly untouched. I got the cab ready to pull over the weekend so we are making decent progress. I also found an interesting treasure behind the instrument cluster. You will have to go to my gallery to see what it was. www.musclerodz.com/gallery .I am betting it was put there by an assembly line worker. The condition of the original paint is incredible. I will be leaving all the original paint that will not be seen to be saved for furture reference when it is restored again in another 40 years.

It's "vintage" If it was an assembly worker, that reminds me of a story. Back when my dad 1st started being a mechanic, he worked at Ford for a short time. There was this one Crown Victoria that kept coming in for a rattling complaint coming from the back. This car came in and out maybe 10 times before they finally decided to tear the rear end apart. Ends up an assembly line worker was quitting the job, and to give one last F-you to ford, he put a beer bottle inside one of the rear fenders where it wouldn't ever be seen.

I don't recall seeing that pattern stamped into the center hump before. Also, are those brackets under the tank for the buddy buckets?

The buckets were not attached to them so I am not sure. Couple of odd things on this truck I need to research. What pattern are you referring to?

That kind of squigly line on the tunnel to the rear of the transfer case lever. It's been awhile since I had my seat out so it may be standard on all trucks, I just don't remember it.

As a former Tulsan living back in the north west I am jealous of your weather [ground not white]. Keep up the hard work!

Why do I have a sudden desire for a 4x4 3/4 ton? Oh, it's because they're awesome and this one looks pretty tasty.

Just wait till see what upgrades the owner has planned. I am sure several will have to wipe the drool from the key board.
