Hmmmm... (I sure wish my truck was in such nice of shape when I got it..., mine didn't even have a front bumper...) I think you underestimate what you can do if you put your mind to it. Truck looks awesome, keep us posted with new pics. D |
Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
thanks alot
Well my plans for now is to fix the giant dent in the bed then get the truck primered, then do the interior and i could save up for a while for a paint job because i still think trucks look awesome in primer. But right now im trying to decide what color scheme im wanting. Im thinking about doing black interior(because its alot cheaper than other colors). And on the paint im kind of wanting to do orange maybe like pearl orange. Im also wanting to do gloss black, but do you think it would be to much black if it was black inside and out? |
Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
I got a little bit more work done today. I got the new pitman arm back on, put the vacuum hose on the transmission, hooked the kickdown cable back up, welded up my exhaust, cleaned up the engine and put on the new air cleaner.
I just went out and drove it and its running good but when ever i get up around 70 the truck started shaking like it was trying to shift but it was already in 3rd, and a loud roaring sound started. other than that its running and driving good. And also when ever the truck isnt warmed up it won't go into reverse you have to let it sit for a couple of minutes. Does anybody know the problem could be? Here are some pictures of it and my dad said we might be able to start on replacing my cab corner and rocker tomorrow. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0366.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0365.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0364.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0363.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0369.jpg Not much has changed though that you can see. |

Cool project and ...........
BOOMER SOONER! |
Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
Orange would be cool but here's pics of my 72 c20 longbed 4x4 that is painted back in the original medium olive green that your truck appears to be.
Mine probably won't be as fast as yours but I could pull a Hummer out of a ditch! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3161/...5dc3149f_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2411/...dd454ddd_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3133/...69273630_o.jpg |
Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
I had a race yesterday and had an accident which is giving me another set back. I was jumping a double and my bike shut off and i went straight into the face of the landing and re broke my collarbone.

Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
Good looking project! I am about 2K into mine and I wish mine was in that good of shape.

Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
thanks i am really happy with my truck and i will be keeping a eye on your build too

Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
"re broke my collarbone."
That's a real bummer. Must hurt pretty food also. And just in time for summer. $2,000 for your truck was a steal. I vote for the pearl orange also. Good luck on healing and getting your truck done. Lee |
Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
Thanks Lee
The 2 colors i am thinking about is candy tangerine(there is a picture in one of my classic truck magazines and it looks awesome) and pearl orange |

Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
Got some work done today and here are the pics. We are going to the salvage yard tomorrow to pick up a door, try to find grill, grill shell, heater core, and some other stuff. Then were gonna take of the bed and start on the rocker and cab corner replacement. :metal:
Welded up the trim holes on the fenders. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0388.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0389.jpg My First time to weld, I did this side http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0393.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0395.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0408.jpg This was probably the best weld that i did that i only had to do once http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0409.jpg Dad using the grinder http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0405.jpg My sub box that my sister bought me for a early birthday present http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0410.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...2/100_0391.jpg |

Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
The build is moving along nice and steady, great job!
Bummer on the Collar bone, unfortunatly broken bones and racing go hand-n-hand, especially bikes & collar bones. The good part about it is, it's part of the learnig curve to getting faster and most times you learn something from it........ but not always :smoke: |
Re: My 1972 chevy c10 father/son build
thanks and hopefully my luck isnt as bad as my dads friend who now is pro he broke his collar bone 9 times in 1 year.
