Post up pics of oddball tools you have that people don't see or may have never seen before.

Here's the starter Old-school impact wrench. You just beat on it with a hammer on the end to really loosen or tighten stuff.

I've heard them referred to as a striking wrench ... put the wrench on the nut/bolt and you hit the end with the big square piece of extra material.

Those are an industrial type tool.I use them pretty regularly.I haven't needed to buy one in a while but I think they are still available.

wow I did not know they made them. we make our own where I work we just cut reg wrenches in half and hammer away (this is with 2 inch and bigger wrenches)

Those style "Knocker Wrenches" fed the wife and kids.Used to repair heavy cranes. Swapped jobs and started moving them instead but still have a few left......and yes they are bent and twisted.A few swats with a 6lb hammer and nothing happened. The 16lb came out

We call them Knock wrenches. They're still available, used everyday by turbine millwrights somewhere.

Here's something I picked up last summer at a auction, someone on here said one end was standard, the other metric:D

Those knocker wrenches are real common in refineries busting the nuts loose on exchanger covers

Here's another. These come as an adjustable, open end, box end, and ratchet. I own several, but this pic came off feebay. For years I wouldn't use one because I didn't want anyone to confuse me with an ironworker:D, but I finally used one, and it's the handiest thing in my box now. Couple months ago when the wheel came off this is what subbed for a lug wrench. It's a spud wrench.

We called those strike wrenchs 'hammer wrenchs' on the drilling rigs. We used them to tighten up the bolts on the blowout preventors on the wellheads. One guy would hold the wrench tight with a rope and another would wail on it with a big hammer. I've got some goofy tools, but I don't have any pics right now.

i have two of those. yeah, i was one of those dreaded iron workers, LOL. i'll tell you tho, those are the handiest wrenches to have in your shop. they came in REAL handy when i dropped the rear of my '75...............:smoke:

I always called a tapered punch like the one end a lady`s finger.Spud wrench,huhI always poke mt taters but not that fat.I guess you could heat that up,stick a spud on it and have a baked potato out on the rig.
I have a "wheel fall off no proper tool improvished tool" story,too.:cool:

Here's Brian goofin around with one of my Great Grandpa's railroad wrenches. You had to be a real man to tote this thing....It's HEAVY!!

We've since sandblasted and painted the wrench....but it's still heavy!:lol:

That wrench looks like a toothpick compared to the "little joe" wrench we carried on our M60 tanks to make track tension adjustments. It was a thick, wide, heavy, open end 15 degree head with a 3 3/16 opening and about 3 feet long. We carried a cheater pipe with us to extend it ato about 6'length. I wish I had a pic of it!

There was a show on Discovery Channel about these people who had tanks and was showing that huge wrench for adjusting those tracks. Took two guys to do the adjusting.

Looks like a track wrench. Used to tighten bolts in joints and switches.

Wish I would have had one of those knock wrenches last weekend. Ruined my big pipe wrench trying to get the trailer ball off my bumper....They don't hold up well to sudden shock.:lol:
