Sharp! I am looking at a 2005 Shortbed reg cab Z71....thought maybe someone would have either one of those or a 2wd version.

I sure don't see many of those out there.

Re: Pics of 99-04 GMC shortbed....

Kelly I have done some looking around on a couple of sites and the reg cabs are somewhat scarce. I haven't found a single pic of an 05 short Z yet. Appears most of the trucks sold these days are excabs in 2 or 4 wd. My bil just sold his 2000 Chevy reg cab Z71 and while shopping for a newer one the dealer told him the reg cab Z trucks are way hard to come by. Said he would have paid almost twice what bil got for his. Of course that made him ill..
If that '05 don't pan out you might as well join the rest of us and get an excab. You'll like the extra room and ride anyway. ;)

2000 GMC Sierra, as shown with a 5x6 drop. Currently has a 4x6 drop. Other than that, completely stock. FYI - stock tires will rub with anything over a 4" drop up front.

You are kidding right? Why would anyone lower a 4x4????

Why not?

Re: Pics of 99-04 GMC shortbed....

I realize it's a matter of taste and such but wouldn't it be better to find a 2wd truck and lower it? Z-71's are sprung hard for the trail it makes for a bumpy ride lowered.

I'd like to have a second rcsb lowered 2/4...a modified street truck basically.

There's a dually around town here that's in the weeds and it's a diesel....weird...or maybe I am just old.

I like the black 04. When installing taller tires isn't it necessary to have the 'puter adjusted to help compensate for the difference in diameter? I'm thinking so. That may be why you felt it was sluggish with the tall ones.

Re: Pics of 99-04 GMC shortbed....

Naw, it was due to the fact that they were 85 lbs a piece vs. 55 lbs. Lots of additional unsprung weight. The truck stopped horribly as well compared to the little 16" wheels.
