hey all!
before i go out and start cutting hte hell out of some wood here
does anyone have dimensions they used to fit a single 10in sub behind the seat?
i got a generic box but im dissatisfied with it...
and it has wayyy to much danged airspace in it..

I would love this information as well. I'm looking to get enough air space to house 2 MTX TT6512-04 Sealed Enclosure Net Volume = .75ft3

i appreciate it... what dubs you used also etc..
i jsut traded my wife my MTX 4000 due to the fact they sound better in a suv then a single cab.

so im going down to ONE sub but it'll be a jlw 10 incher shallow so i an put "less box" de to me being tall and needing my seat all the way back.. plus i still have an amp to mount (off the floor)
im thinking i'll put it in the glove box for fun!.. hahaha
i miss my behind seat storage... grrrr..

JL only makes a 12 and 13.5 shallow sub, but one should be enough.

Sorry I haven't gotten you those dimensions. my grandpa had to be run to the hospital yesterday and I've been surfing the net using a laptop. I'll get the measurements once I get home.

and yes you are correct on the shallow mount dimensions..
the jl 10 im using is not "shallow mount" but the magnet size and depth is better then te mtx 4000's i have.. thus allowing me to tuck it better

it all depends on how good of a box i can make myself vs spending 70 bucks on one to fit thanks!

O thought I would mention I too bought a retail box but I could not push the seat all the way back so I built this.......

Ok here we go...

Maybe some one can make a diagram out of this for you ????

I used 3/4 MDF with Formica on both sides.. It was what was laying around at work back when I still had a job. In fact we used the CNC router and the program is saved. If I had access I could have whipped you up one in about 5 minutes....

Measurements in inches.. All out side dimensions.....

Length 29 wide

High 15, This is up the back as the slant on the front will be longer..

Depth at top 3

Depth at bottom is 7 ..

Now as for the size of the hole I have no idea as of now and really don't want to pull the sub..

Note that the sub is mounted from the outside, also that it is a sealed box packed with poly fill....

good info if my calculations are correct that right at about 0.75 Cubic Feet. Would one double the length fit behind the seat?

the length would nto be the issue for behind the seat on our cabs..

it's the depth at the base.. from the rear cross tube of the bottom half of the bench seat, with it fully slid to the rear you have 7.5 inches...
most "generic" boxes are 8-10 inches deep...

so at 15inches "up" the back of the seat he has the measurement at three in the allowable space for the top of the box there is a hair under 5 in..


so with speaker mounted grill mounte and wires ran
you have mroe then enough room behind the seat to "hear" the sub better and a much less likleyhood of a screwdriver or somethign slipping between the seats and f-ing up his box..

is that a shallow mount sub that you have in there?
what is the sound like? get decent bass out of it?
im going to build one as well but im trying to decide if i want to build a double or if a single 10 will be enough

Nope..

Better then I hoped for. Tons of bass JL makes a good sub..

There is way more bass then I need in this thing. If you want to shake the ground go for two...
