hey guys, been following this site for awile, just wanted to introduce myself and show a little of my project. It is a '68 short/wide that has been in the family since '73. I basically tore it down and threw away everything so I would not be tempted to reuse anything old. My goal is to have a "brand new" 1968 truck when I'm done. Power will be 454/turbo 400, with a Chrysler 8-3/4 rear.

Re: new guy

You should of went with a PorterBuilt drop member since you said your aren't re using anything ;) and while you're at it build up a custom tubular frame. Haha. Build is looking great man, can't wait to see some more progress!

Thanks guys, I will keep you updated. And Dylan, I took your advice and re-did the frame and went with a porter-built last night, but then something woke me up ! :-):5150:

Re: new guy

That is kind of my goal for now. I inherited this truck from my dad in 1985 and drove it several years, then it was parked and I started a "ProStreet" project on it. But time and money faded, and it sat for several more years. When I finally got a place to work on it and some spare money, I had aged and my goals changed. Since this truck has been in the family since 1973, my goal is now to have a "new" '68 with a stock looking appeal, with some ProStreet things incorporated. I had also meant to purchase all new sheet metal, but after reading on here about fitment issues, and re-thinking the project, I am going to use all the original metal, so when I'm done the truck will be original except motor/trans/rear end. :metal:
