If done right it can look as good as new but your better off buying the arm rests

I used SEM vinyl dye for interior parts on two of the trucks I built and it worked great for me. I scrubbed my parts with soap and water with a stiff brush, rinsed and dried, then went over them with a rag dampened with alcohol. If you have to touch the parts after they have been cleaned with the alcohol wear rubber gloves. You have to be sure and get all of the dirt and grime out of the grain of the vinyl. Here is a good web site for information on SEM: http://www.vinylprosem.com/ I agree with OARNGESI on the arm rests if you can get the color you want. LockDoc |

Loc doc is right. The only other thing I would add is to use an adhesion promoter before you paint

Re: door panel die/paint
I have done it on the 69/70 style vinal padded door panels on 2 trucks, and it holds up pretty good for 5 years or so, but then it starts to fade a bit. (I need to redo the longhorn's sometime soon-ish)
If you spray the dashpad, it'll be a tick more glossy than a new dashpad, and you may find the reflections a bit offensive, but it seems I am a bit picky on windshield reflections. |
