Doug Thorley 324y and Lokar ed-5008

I have installed the DT 324y on my 6.0 and the header instructions say to use the Lokar ed-5008 oil dipstick tube. OK well where would you mount it at?

I used stocker one and made a bracket. you probably can do the same.

I might just do that since I've seen that other guys have done the same. I'm just slightly upset that DT instructions said to use it but didn't give an explanation as to where to mount it. I got the impression from the instructions that it would mount somewhere close to the stock location. 2 weeks ago I just wasnt in the mood for custom fab work, but now that it's in and running, I've calmed down and am looking at other options of making the stock stick work like you guys have suggested. Thanks!

What has ever been plug and play!?!?! Nearly everything has to be done in a work around fashion....and if the Lokar unit mounts like all the other Lokar units I have seen, its too close to the header tubes or flanges and therefore is not useful unless its a show car that never sees operating temps. :)

yep that's true!! Here is where mine is currently mounted, on the frame rail just behind the engine tower. It works for now, it might change later, especially if I install the a/c compressor up top.

FYI: bend those plug end boots upward off the header!!!

It needs to be about 6" longer to work correctly. I'm going to call Lokar and see what they can do.

Or call Doug Thorley and tell them not to recommend using the Lokar ed-5008.

By calling Throlley, you could be fixing the problem for others in the future.

I'm talking to Lokar as we speak. Hopefully we'll have a solution soon, :metal:.

Can you get me the part number on those? Are they MSD 32819? The DT instructions say that "some" truck wires will work, but mine don't fit. Guess I'm not "some".

make sure you have bent the spark plug end boot, it is not rigid, I have a few guys contact me say theirs are too short and not realize the boot is bendable.

If that is still your issue, let me know, I ship the wires for $70.

Thanks. I saw that the headers went on sale for $45 cheaper than I paid the day after I bought them. Any chance I could put that towards the wires?

You guys having ign.wire probs. You can just purchase a set of universal wires & a lt1 end kit & make a set any length you want.I'm gonna use 135 deg. taylor spiro pro's [the ends are small].It helps to have a crimping tool, summit has them for 12.00 part no. TAY-43390

Re: Doug Thorley 324y and Lokar ed-5008

I dont understand where the issue is....you are taking a production truck motor that manufactures make wires for and putting them on there....The headers offer more room than manifolds, the aftermarket wires bend unlike stockers.

Re: Doug Thorley 324y and Lokar ed-5008

I have no problem with the wires it's the dipstick that DT recommends.
