Accessories

I will be swapping in an LS motor eventually. I've been casually looking for good deals on 6.0s as Im not really near the engine stage of my build yet. Most of the engine's I'm running across at local yards come without front accessories.

Are most of you guys using the truck engine accessories? Are there any accessory packages that don't fit?

with a truck intake, you use truck accessories, with a car intake you use car accessories, they wont interchange, also corvette accessories is also different from the car accessories.

If you get a "pull out" motor, ask for the accessories too, it will definitely be cheaper from the recyclers than new.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that Im running a carb, so intake is no issue.

So both car and truck accessories fit?

Fit in terms of bolt on, yes. Like they said the intake situation changes it, but with a carb it takes that out of the picture.

You may want to also consider WHERE each type of accessories place the components. You wouldn't want to buy an accessory setup and then find out he alternator location doesn't work with the space you have.

Re: Accessories

I understand the accessories are interchangeable between the engines (except VVT issues).

Truck is the 69 in my sig. I guess I should have been more specific in my post. Are either style of accessories going to fit between the frame rails? That would be the only area of clashing on a 69 C10 right?

Re: Accessories

I'm pretty sure the 69 is similar enough to the frame of my 66 for comparison; the truck accessories fit just fine in between the rails (I have no a/c), but I did put a little "tweak" in the frame rail for the power steering pulley clearance.

They will interchange but not without effort.

I purchased a long block LQ4 with only an intake on it. However, I found a salvage yard that sold me all the Brackets, DBC Throttle Body, AC compressor, PS pump, Coil Pacs and brackets, Various bolts and etc for $300. I decided to get a new water pump in this case. I think the price was more than fair? Thoughts?

sounds good to me, compressor/alt and PS pump rebuilt will be probably 2.5 times that anyway. even if something is bad you will have a core. Smart move on the WP.

Re: Accessories

My motor is carb'd too. It came with just the truck accessory bracket, the water pump, water pump pulley, and crank pulley. Since my motor was new, I decided to buy all new alt., p.s.pump, and idler pulley. Got most of it thru rock auto.

which intake are you using? I wound up with a GMPP LSX dual plane, made for L92/LS3 style heads.
