1956 GMC frame question.
Hey all, I think this is the right thread to post this.
I have a 1956 GMC and would like to swap frames, I came across a video and this fella had a IFS GMC frame, I'm not exactly sure what year so I figured someone could help me out. The cluster gauges and steering wheel look like they came from a 2004+ GMC Sierra. Also, are the tow hooks custom? Link 1(Walk around): Link 2(Interior): -Thanks in advance. |
Re: 1956 GMC frame question.
Not sure what year it is, but the tow hooks remind me of something off of a Hummer? You can also get weld on D rings from a trailer shop too so I guess that we can't really base the year off of those. Looks like the cab has a little stretch too? I don't remember my '57 looking that long at the b pillar. Cool looking truck though. I especially like the rebar steps;)

Yeah I found them pretty amusing, it's different and I like it. I think he just made a custom extended cab. I tried messaging the guy, but I believe it was for sale somewhere in Florida, Ultimate Image is a dealership.

Re: 1956 GMC frame question.
I'm sure you could use just about any 2000+ chassis. Either way, it's gonna be alot of work. If done right, in the end could be worth it.

I'm a young'n, this will take awhile, just want to gather some information. I don't have the tools, only a brain.

What size tires are they?

Bump.

Re: 1956 GMC frame question.
If I had to guess, I would say somewhere around a 36" x real wide tire. Looks like a balancing nightmare to me. Looks cool as all get out though! I had a '57 1 ton Napco years ago, so I have a kind of soft spot for this truck. Lots a fun!

Re: 1956 GMC frame question.
I think it may have a Tuff Country suspension lift kit on it, judging from the White shocks with the yellow shock boots. I'm planning just to drop it on my 05' Cummins.

Re: 1956 GMC frame question.
That looks to be a 2000+ chevy silverado or SUV frame, judging by the front suspension and rear hitch. Tires look more like 38x15x15 to me.
