Driveshaft Measurements for a 200-4R

I recently purchased an 2004-R from Art Carr (the one in California) to install on my 1966 c10 which is running a mild 350 engine. He told me over the phone I would have to shorten the driveshaft. I am currently running a TH350 with a 9 inch tailshaft (blew out Thanksgiving Day). From what I have read on the forums this should be a direct bolt up so I submit to you the following questions:

1) Has anyone done this swap and know if it will need to be shortened?
2) If it does need to be shortened, does anyone know the measurements (trying to make this as easy as possible without any installation hickups)?

2004R is a direct replacement for a th350 with 6' tailshaft

you will need to have a longer driveshaft built

i'd suggest you install tranny then take your own measurement b4 getting driveshaft wrk done so it is only done once

Yeah just got an email back saying that. Called a local driveshaft shop and they want $300 to fab me a new one. Is there a donor car(s) that I could yank a longer one out of at the bone yard?

$300 bucks ain't too shabby for a custom driveline. I had one custom made for a 1979 GMC 3/4 ton a few years back and it almost set me back $500 bucks.

Yeah now I am kinda regretting not getting the 700R4 I am already overbudget and this addtional setback is painful. From how I understand it the measurements on the TH350 (9in) are 30 5/8" compared to 27 3/4" on the 2004r. Are there donor cars at the bone yard with 27 3/4" drive shaft?

even vegas driveshafts were a lot longer than 273/4" long again suggesting you have the tranny in place and take ACCURATE measurement to get the job done once

Found a shop that will put in the transmission and take care of the driveshaft issue alltogather. Way more than I wanted to spend but i just dont have any time right now. From what I am told the 2004r will be worth it in the end. We shall see...

It might already be a moot point, but you should be able to buy a shaft from the parts board since most of the TH350's in our trucks have the 6" tail it should be an easy find.

Cheers,

is it a a 1 or 2 piece driveshaft. if its 2 you should just need to change out the front part of it and can most likely find on in a local yard even if it was a stick shift truck.
