Project 66

Hello everyone, I am a new member and I am a Mustang guy at heart owning a total of 5 right now, but I have crossed over and purchased a 1966 Chevy C10. I have always loved the body style of these trucks and came across a real clean one for the right price and a very nicely built small block in it. I just started a blog on the build and would like to invite everyone to follow along and let me know what you think.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum :D

That looks like a good truck to build.

Re: Project 66

I used the money from selling my 85 Mustang SVO (glorified Pinto, but fun as hell) to buy my 64 C10. Chevy trucks are more my style though I do miss power sliding the SVO at some local onramps from time to time.

Welcome aboard.

Well, that keeps changing, originally it was a close to original "looking" (more like a period correct) restoration but I think I have switched gears there. It was never intended to be a frame off, just a driver and use what parts I could. I want this truck to look good and cruise to shows but absolutely no trailer queen and I do have a budget. I wanted it to look original but not blow the bank on OEM parts and stuff. But as I move through it I am going to update the blog and just post on this thread to check out the blog updates rather than posting pictures throughout her. I think the blog will be easier to follow if you want to see the build but not all of the comments mixed into it.

Follow the blog, it will all be in there!!!!

Re: Project 66

Cool - I'd be curious to know if that matches the paint code on the trim tag?
Looks too "gold" to be to be fawn, but it sure is purdy.

Gold & white is one of the three color combos that I'm trying to choose between. Here are a few pics of that combo.

Re: Project 66

thanks for the pics....I won't be doing the side mouldings or the custom trim on the top cab corners. I like the color combo though.

Is this color Fawn or Gold? If Gold, what year/vehicle is the color code from. This truck is what I want mine too look like.

Well, I have not updated in a while but I do have a couple of body work pictures to show off. Got new rockers made and a new drip rail on the passenger side. Still stripping paint off of the doors and got a bunch of new parts waiting. I have also custom ordered wheel vintique ralley wheels, pics to come soon.

Re: Project 66

No chemicals. Stripping it all by hand.
