GMCNUT has first dibs.

I'll keep doing searches for what it's worth.

I just found this one that sold for $250:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...vip=true&rt=nc

Sweptline, what is it missing?
It appears to have everything that GMCNUT is including with his for $175, and from the pics he posted, mine looks to be in even better shape. And his are only 2-speed.

I posted this 'What is it worth thread' because I really didn't know, and thought I might even use it in my 65, but I don't want to leave this up another day without establishing a price. So for now, I'm setting the price at $225 plus shipping for members who are Premium members (Supporting Members), and $250 plus shipping for those who are not..

Either way, I'll try really hard to get some more pics up tomorrow.

Upper column bearing is missing and so is the horn contact plate, and the auto light and power wire are missing too. Not sure what the other end looks like. There's another one posted from another member for 175.00 minus these same parts and also missing the turn signal switch. Not sure yours is worth significantly more unless that switch is good and has perfect un-cut wiring

Re: Auto Column - WIW ?

Well, I'm not in desperate need to get rid of it.
I'm actually considering keeping it with the possibility of putting an automatic in my 65 in the future.
I'll do some more research on it, but here is another thread I found regarding the rarity of the 3-speed Auto Column. But then again, LILRED66 says the lenses are interchangeable. So if it's just the lens that's rare, then I don't see why someone couldn't just use their 2-speed and then find or make their own 3-speed lens.

Maybe mine isn't worth $225. And don't take this as a snotty comment;
But it makes no sense for me to sell it for $175 to only be able to afford to buy one of your $175 dollar 2-speed columns.
But I will surely give it more thought before I let it go for less than $225
Especially if I'm considering putting an auto in my 65 sometime in the future.

Here is some close up pics:
What Sweptline calls 'substantial pitting and wear' isn't that at all, but mostly that it's dirty. I did a quick wipe.

Thanks guys for your interest.

I see LT1 Burb accepted your offer for $175 shipped.
That outta work out well for you, beings you have all the needed missing parts from one of your 2-speed auto columns. I'm glad you found what you needed.

You did me no wrong. It's all good. :)
I may just keep mine for a later conversion to auto.

I have another 3 speed plus 2 other 2 speeds that I am keeping just because they are few and far between.

I just sold my 2 speed auto column and crossmember for $500 today

Re: Auto Column - WIW ?

I think it's more about what it's worth to the one buying or selling, when it comes to really rare parts. We can try and get someting for less by telling the seller it isn't worth that much, or we can wait for someone like LT1 Burb cleaning out his garage of extra auto columns.

Re: Auto Column - WIW ?

Robert, I did end up just taking LT-1 Burb's column for the 175.00 because I figured with other members jumping in and saying these 3 speed columns are worth so much it would never have ended up being equally priced or cheaper and since it was the exact same column, I just went that route because like you said, I do have the missing parts. I very much appreciate you giving me first shot anyway.

Something is only worth whatever someone is willing to pay, but generally speaking these 3 speed columns are worth more than a 2 speed auto column and 2 speed columns average 125.00-175.00 dollars depending on condition and other variables so I would say a 3 speed is probably worth an average of 200.00 to 300.00 depending on who needs one....I have never paid as much as 175.00 for one in years past, but they are only getting rarer to find, so hang on to that one and it might end up worth 500.00 in a few years :)

I didn't read all of this at first, so I do apologize I did not realize you were wanting a 2 speed column - you can swap that column for a 2 speed if that is what you want - not sure if that is what you are saying above or not?
