1971 LWB Cheyenne WIW
 

Hi all. New member here. I'm looking to purchase my first 67-72 Chevy PU. I've been looking around online (mostly here, craigslist and ebay). Originally I was looking for a SWB but found them to be tough to find one in good shape or one I can afford. I found one near me and would like the groups opinion on what it's worth so I have included some photos. I'll try to answer questions if I now the answers. Thanks.

Looks like a $6-10K truck. Lots of variables including quality of body/paint, suspension work, etc. If you are buying in that range I would say go for it if you like the truck and it's a quality build. Sharpie

Looks like a decent truck. It isn't a cheyenne if that matters to you. Wrong chrome, or lack of chrome/stainless items. I would guess for your area, around $5-$7k if everything works and it runs and drives good. How much are they asking?

Thanks for the responses. The truck has certainly been painted and it's not a terrific job, runs, over spray, cracked paint, etc. but it looks nice from a short distance. Suspension is original except the heavy duty leaf spring has been removed and it has lowering springs on all four corners. I was wondering what makes it not a Cheyenne? I noticed the SPID lists the white stripe and I thought that was only for Cheyenne trim and above. To me it looked like a Cheyenne that someone had trying to fake into being a Cheyenne Super by changing the seat cover and putting those vinyl woodgrain decals on the glove box, ashtray and gauge cluster. Also, I thought the door panels looked a little aftermarket. Thanks again for any info.

First, cheyenne would be listed in the glovebox. It looks like someone tried painting the woodgrain on the door panels, no cargo light, no stainless around windshield, no chrome on vent windows, no trim on tailgate and doesn't look to have a headliner, but not sure on that one. What is the asking price? The paint looks good in the pics, but if its like you say, that will drop the value.

The asking price is $8500. Guy seems pretty firm.

With the info posted on later posts I would say it's a $3,000 - $4,000 truck. Maybe more toward $4,000 if it's realy solid, but if the paint job is as you say who knows what kind of bodywork it's hiding.

Wow. I figured (from looking at other trucks available online) this would have been a 5-7k truck I know I might have made is sound bad but I see some rust buckets out there for 3-4k. I'd really like to find a swb that is in good shape that hasn't been painted (but I guess most people are looking for that too). It seems tough to find a truck that hasn't had the cab all cut up for din mout stereos or 6x9s in the doors. Guess it's hard to find a 40 year old vehicle that hasn't been modified by people or nature (rust).

Another thing I noticed when test driving this truck was that the center of hood vibrated/bounced. It almost seemed wavy. Is that common with these? I watched an (in cab) video of another 67/72 chevy being drivien down the road and the hood appeared rock solid. Any thoughts?

The rubber pads are probably missing between the hood supports and the top layer of metal on the hood. With the pads it should eliminate, or at least reduce, the vibrating.

It does look like a nice truck n th first pics. But then the detail pics do make it look like it'll eat $5-$10k on a paint job/mini resto easily. His $8500 price is nuts. There are trucks nicer out there. Just keep looking man.
