Porterbuilt control arm help

I purchased some upper and lower control arms, Was putting everything back together on the front end but the upper control arms ended up hitting the stock upper crossmember that they bolt to. They are not able to fully seat aganist the bracket, there is those 1/2 thick spacers from the factory arms but that is still not enough. if I make a 1'' thick spacer will that effect the caster, camber? if it comes down to it I could shave some metal off the bracket, but I just had them powdercoated:lol: will post some pictures but need to go get a connecter for the phone to upload pictures. also the holes on the crossshafts on the porterbuilt arms seems a little large for the factory studs, is there a difference for the different years 67-72 73-87 cause i upgraded to 73-87 steering.
thanks in advance for any help

He hasn't been in touch with me yet. Shouldn't be any thing to worry about. Hundreds of sets out there on factory cross members. :)

When its set up at proper alignment, the shaft should clear the gusset he's referring to.

Re: Porterbuilt control arm help

I ended up just shaving the gussets down to clear. Like they said on the phone all these trucks seem to have different deficiencies in different areas, sucks that they were just powdered coated. Had to touch them up but you can't tell unless you are few inches away. Over this little bump, on to the next few......(hundred) .I will say it is so nice working with new parts. Yet alone quality parts from Nate. Like putting the lower ball joint in was literally a five minute job for both.

I know this is an old thread but does anyone know if the highlighted area gets one of the washers that comes w/ the PBFAB upper control arm ?

No washer gets installed there.

The crush tube will bottom out on the machined collar of the shaft.

Make sure the bushing shoulder seats against the outer edge of the control arm pivot tube (the machined sleeve that the bushing slides into) then tighten her down until the crush tube seats against the shaft.

Zero lash (seat the crush tube) and 1/4 turn.

Thank you sir! That's about what I did.
They still moved (pivoted) freely so I thought I would verify just in case.
