Hi. After looking for a couple of years, I have a 1st gen blazer again. I had a 70 350/4 speed, hugger orange painted bumpers in high school in the late 80s. it looked like the worst of the worst rust pics that are posted on here. no rockers, holes the size of your head behind the doors. If you slammed the door, a rust rectangle was formed below it. Couldnt put more than $5 in gas in it, or it would leak out. But it sure was fun! So I just picked this up over the weekend (if i figure out how to add photos). 72 350/350. Some rust on the passenger side, door, and behind it. A little on the rockers. Hasnt been regesterd in 11 years. I have a few things to do to it to make it road worthy, I can drive it, but for saftey, I need to fix the E brake, and the trans linkage feels like it floats. no click between positions. It engages fine, but kinda scarry when there is no e brake to wonder, Is it really in park! Im sure I will be lookin for a few things for it in the next couple years. Seats (late 80's buckets), and some guidance for taking that lift down a notch. A little lift I like, but it is a little too tall for freeways.

Thanks Randal! It was just bonus that it was the color combo I like best. Disk front bonus, 12 bolt rear bonus. Not a CST, so those logos are commin off the door. And that grill is going too!

awesome yeah mine was sitting for about 5 years but got it started now just saving to get the patch panels and stuff to get it rust free but looks like you got a solid blazer from the pics good luck and have fun

Welcome to the board from the other side of the lake. That's a nice looking Blazer. Where did you find it? You need to get the brake and the linkage fixed so you can pull the top and drive it with the last remaining days of summer!

Thanks Bouncy! Well, im not planning on getting it on the road till next spring. But I have a 66 mustang convertible I drove 3000 miles over the summer. Tahoe, San Francisco, up the coast, and the rig the blazer is replacing is a 99 wrangler (in the back ground in 1 of the pics). Also a 02 LE hayabusa, so I get lotsa topless time! Get the feeling i dont know I live in Seattle? Anyways, I found it in Tonasket, on Spokane CL. Which is weird. My fam is all from there, and the mustang is from there also. The guy i got it from has only been there 3 years or so, the truck spent most of its time in lake stevens. But he was driving it less then 100 miles a year. The top is kind of hammered so im looking at a soft topper and ditch the hard top alltogether. The SPID (is that right?) is awol. Glove box from a longbed 1/2 ton. Is the herratage report from chevy worth doing? I would like to know how it came new.

Looked like eastern WA in the pics. I wouldn't worry too much about the SPID missing or how it came factory. It looks like it's seen mods over the years and unless you're planning on doing a factory resto, it probably isnt' worth it.

I drove my blazer with the top off today. I figure we only have a handful of days worthy of going topless left.

Once the blazer is done, you could always sell it for new parts on the truck....theyre never really done:lol:

LOL. Even if I wanted to, I cant sell that car. My fam would kill me! My uncle bought it new in 66 in Renton WA when he was worling for boeing. Shortly after he went to work on a ship and the car sat in a shead in eastern Wa off and on for most of its life. I was told I put sand in the gas tank as a toddler in the early 70's, and have pictures with the car in the late 70's. When my uncle passed away 3 years ago, the car had not been on the road since the 90's. 94,xxx on the odomiter. 97,xxx now. 289/2v 3 speed on the floor. Drums, non power everything. So 2 classics from Tonasket. The 1 I chose, and the herloom!

Good choice on the color. It looks pretty solid. You might want to keep the CST emblems since the spid is gone, it would be hard to tell if it wasn't. Plus it looks good with them. Anyway nice truck and enjoy.

Ty, Ty, Ty for all the welcomes! I was reserching the missing spid thing, and the truck was made in Canada, so I can order the resoration package that shows how it came from the factory! My better half is faxing the paperwork from work tomorrow. It is kinda like a new girlfriend, it dont matter, but there is still a part of you that wants to know her past! lol

Well, it turns out the rig was not made in Canada. I was going off the title and over the 40 year history, the great state of Washington managed to lose one letter. The letter "S"! Saint Louis, So no history report. Oh well. At some point next summer or something I might see if Bouncytruck will have a look at it, and help me figure out what it might have come with!

Sorry you can't find the history. Pretty typical that they get lost over the years. Still a great rig that you'll have a lot of fun driving.

Just drove it home. Long silly story. When I went to buy it the guy who had it had not registered it since the late 90's. I said I want to get it, but how will I get it home 300 miles with to tabs? He said he had to come over to Everett in October and would trailer it for me. I offered him $100 towards gas (still saves me $). He seemed like a stand up guy (and was) but I didnt want to tell that here in case I got the shaft. It tracks pretty good, given the lift, and the 35's. I already got a set of 15x8 rallys off craigslist for $40, and got them powder coated thru les schwab for $133 total. Good job for the price. It ran pretty rough, and had to power brake it to keep it running for 30 miles. Gave myself an ulcer. Crawled under it a little more, and pretty rustless. Anyways, im sure I will be asking for some guiadence, and have already read the 298 pages to get ready.

Thanks Webfisher! Ok, first silly question. Iput some fuel in it and is is dripping out a small pin hole in the center of the tank. Any quick fix till I replace/repair the tank?

Congrats on the new Blazer! AND welcome to the board.

If your tank is just bent and has a minor crack, some epoxy should get you by for awhile. but if its pinholed from rust I would not chance it and replace it a soon as possible. plus if its full of rust/crud you don't want it getting into the carb.

If you ever find yourself near the Seatac area stop on by, I am normally always either under, over or inside of a Blazer or two.

Well, I have changed the tires and wheels, the grill, sent it away for some work (some guys have skills, I have bills) to a friend of Ellens and it runs good now. Mark (Livrat) gave me the grill insert that had one broken tab, so a tube of super glue and some rubber black rustoleum paint and it looks good enough for now. I found the 15X8 rallys on craigslist for $40, and Les Schwab blasted/powdercoated them for $120. I put 33 12.5 instead of the 35 12.5. I might take the lift down a little later. Some progress I guess!
