Temperature sender for 61 dash and 350 block
I have a sensor in there now, but it doesn't really register. I think it did move a little once it got to running temperature, but no where near what I would expect.
I was looking at this one: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SMP-TS6/?rtype=10 but I didn't want to buy *another* sender and it be incorrect, again. Also, what would the connector for this sender look like? Thanks, AP |
Re: Temperature sender for 61 dash and 350 block
Are you certain the sender you have now is the correct one for the gauge and not for the light? You could also have a grounding issue. Is your engine and your cab grounded well?
That listing on Summit appears ro be correct for your year of truck, but it does not specify whether it is for the gauge or light. |
Re: Temperature sender for 61 dash and 350 block
Yeah, I do believe I have a good ground (everything else lights up and reads correctly).
I just noticed in the 'overview' tab on summit it says: "Notes Temperature sender without light." So I guess I'll give it a shot. Any idea what the connector for this sender looks like? Thanks. |
Re: Temperature sender for 61 dash and 350 block
I guess I missed that notation. The correct connector for that sender, is a typical single contact molded plug with a notch cut out on one side. Then the plug just slides over the 'T' shaped stud on the sender. You could also use a typical aftermarket female .250" spade connector.

Super. Thanks Cap! I'll see what I can find.

Also, here is a good picture of how the plug slides onto the senders top.
Didn't make sense to me until some of the stuff Cap said and then looking at the plug that came with my harness...turns out the correct end is already on there. It looks like it should slide the other way (vertically) onto a flat blade sender. But it slides horizontally over the top of the 'T', like Cap was saying. http://www.trifive.com/garage/57%20C...nual/12-15.gif |
