Need 68-72 Aluminum radiator

needs to have a transmission cooler for a 2WD V8 motor
Can anyone tell me what radiator will work, not sure what size to get.
Any websites or part numbers from places like Summit, etc would be a big help in finding a radiator that will work for my 70 rebuild.

Thanks

Welcome the the board, wow three year member and one post. Anyway, not enough info to make a good recommendation.

Not sure what your plans are for engine size or power goals but if you have a stock to street/strip build then a $200 four core radiator from your local auto parts store will be more than adequate. Now if you plan on pushing a billion ponies or need to see that shiny aluminum radiator under the hood that's different story.

We carry the champion radiators which are an affordable aluminum radiator. They come in 2,3 & 4 row configurations, with an integrated trans cooler. Like mentioned above, is will depend on the engine and HP, to choose which is best for you. Typically a 3-row fits the bill most cases, but again, it all depends.

Thank you both for your help on this.... yes three year member and only one post :-) ... I joined here before I started my rebuild so I could use these posts and learn what I could before I started.... these forums are a great place to find answers about things other people have had issues with so I can avoid running into the same issues

I have an aluminum "ebay special" 2 row radiator in my '72 GMC. Been in there for 6 years with a pretty snotty 355 in it. No problems to date. :)

If you want to really get a nice radiator, go with a Aluminum 2row Triple pass. You can always go with one without trans cooler build into it and get a race radiator, extend your trans lines via flex under the core support and mount a heavy duty trans cooler on the front of you radiator. Not the cheapest, but I am pushing 430HP Vortec 350 to the wheels, running 700r4, with full posi Eaton 12 bolt diff.....never see above 185 on the temp gauge. Save yourself power drain and install a electric fan from a 98 Lincoln Mark 8.

I have a 4-row radiator from Pro Performance and it is cooling my 402 wonderfully. I bought it from him with two electric fans. I have one coming on with ignition and the other is switched in the cab.

The radiator works so well I have not needed yet to turn on the second fan. Temp stays right on 190

I recently got one from Autozone. The core is aluminum and the tanks are plastic. I'm not sure if this is the route you are going for, but it's an option.

4 core, trans cooler built in, $185.

I don't know what temp it keeps my 307, I have idiot lights, but they don't come on.

Part Number is A369.

I have an Entropy radiator with two 16" electric fans. It's only a two row core but it has 1.25" tubes. Kinda' pricey though. 14" fans in the picture. The 16" fans were an upgrade.

Travis, can you please confirm which saddles/hold downs are used for the 2, 3 and 4 core Champion radiators?

thx, D'

I have found that they all use the 4-row mounts, but confirming just to make sure that is still the case.
