Project Eat Soot
5 Attachment(s)
Gents, I frequent this site almost every day and have failed to make my own build thread. I have been working on the Blazer for 2 years and am getting closer to getting it done. I have a ton of pictures, it may just be a picture book. I bought the Blazer for $1500 and drove it home and immediately tore it down. I have alot of blood sweat and tears in this project. Specs are 1972 K5 pretty plain jane model. 91 Cummins non-intercooled may add later, 94 Dodge NV4500hd 5 speed, GM 14bolt rear 4.10, GM Dana 60 front, 4 wheel disc brakes with Hydroboost. Sorry for late build thread. Lots of pics though.

Thanks guys, The Cummins fits in there like it supposed to be there. Didn't touch the firewall and just added a electric fan because of too tight of a clearance for a mechanical unit....more random pics.

Re: Project Eat Soot
Great build. Keep posting updates with pics. Details and pics of everything it took to drop the Cummins in would be awesome. I would like to build a 3/4 ton 4wd with one.

Re: Project Eat Soot
I like it, although I find the "Dodge Ram" thing on the crossover manifold a bit bothersome, It would be one thing if it was a Dodge or even a Chrysler made, designed engine but it isn't, it's a Cummins. You should try and find a "Cummins" version of that part. Is there such a thing?

For extra coolness figure out a way to install K/5 Blazer script in it's place..... |
Re: Project Eat Soot
Yeah guys it does look like garbage. I have most of the parts to change it to an intercooled engine which that cross over will be gone. Or I just might make a new crossover I hear they are pretty restrictive. I'm not 100% sold on the intercooler because I don't believe I need it for a truck not towing and pushing a ton of power.

Re: Project Eat Soot
It doesn't look like garbage it just doesn't seem to belong. It's actually a pretty cool cast piece. Me? I'd be perfectly OK with just milling off the "Dodge Ram" part and leaving the "Cummins Turbo Diesel" part. I wonder if there is the same part available off of a marine or industrial engine?
