Help with gear ratio I.D.

Talked to a guy who has a 69 1/2 ton rear end for sale, he didn't know the gear ratio. I told him to look on the ring to find the stamped numbers, he said he doesn't see them. So he said he counted the teeth 3 times and swears it's a 43/11 which would make it a 3.91 by my calculations.

Well, I can't get over there for about a week. So just wondering, was there a stock gear ratio like this?

No. 3.48:1, 3.73:1, 4.11:1 only no 3.91:1 in a half ton 8.875 truck differential.

Rotate the right side axle 360 degrees and count how many time the pinion rotates. You will have your answer... Say it has a 3.73, the pinion will rotate 3.73 times..

It's brobably more like 41/11 which would make it 373, unless its not a half ton 8.875 diff...
