What color blue is this?

So i'm stumped with the color code on my interior. The RPO code says 125W -XDD1 Blue Custom Vinyl. I called SEM to get some Color Coat to touch up the door panels and bench plastic. They told me there were 2 blues that year.. light and dark. But as I've looked at pics, i'm not so sure mine is the light blue. They said the light blue was code 1610. They also told me they could not produce any paint chip or sample of those colors. Don't really care to pay for them to mix something up that's wrongo! Maybe it has faded that much but the looks of light blues that SEM mixed for this guy is a bit smurf like to me. What does the dark look like. Mine looks like it has more grey in it.. Suggestions?

Here's my panel and interior.

Here is someone who had painted with the light blue from SEM.

Those pics are of Dad's 77. But I didn't use the #1610 light blue.
Instead, I had the SEM custom color matched using the un-faded section of door panel underneath the trim as a color reference.
The formula for the custom mix is:

SEM# | Name | Cumulative Grams Per Pint
1554 | Tinting White | 188.5
1553 | Fast Blue | 309.5
1559 | Yellow Oxide | 395.7
1501 | Landau Black | 441.1

It ended up being a nearly spot-on match ... although it does look a bit light in the "after" pic because the sun was shining on the panel.

Here's another pic that shows the passenger side door panel in the shade. The seatbelt retractor and seat hinge covers were also sprayed with the same SEM mix.

The RPO code on Dad's truck is 125D - LDD1 Blue Custom Cloth. From what I've been able to determine, the "25" is what indicates the interior color so yours should be the same.

Back when I checked into it, SEM didn't offer anything for that code 25. Their light blue (1610) is equivalent to GM code 24 and their dark blue (1611) corresponds to GM code 26 ... I believe those are both GM car codes and don't match the blue used in trucks.

And gosh those seatbelts are in perfect condition! I think they were only made like that in 77. Care to part with them? Lol

Hi,

I'm restoring the bench seat in my 1977 GMC K25 Sierra Classic. I think the photo in your post is very similar to what's left of my truck's interior. Is there a name for this interior, or is the part # the best info?

My spec sheet says
Option #: 25D, Description LDD1 Blue Spec Cust
YE9: Silverado Equipment

Thanks!

I will not swear to this but I'm almost positive that the blue interior on 77 trucks was a one year thing. IMHO it's the nicest Blue gm ever used. 76 was darker and 78 was also darker.

Gah! One more reason to fret about keeping it original! Thank you for the reply. This is very helpful.

I would like to find a couple sets of the square chrome trim pieces in the seats my 76 had them and so did my 77 but I haven't had any luck finding them or know what there even called.

Really? The seatbelts are unique to the '77s? So I need to keep mine going if I intend to preserve the interior. My driver side belt keeps locking up and the unit has to be unbolted and then unwound/re-wound. Any cure for that?

This place searches thousands of yards. Enter in all your search parameters and then you'll want seat fronts only. Call some of these yards, they may cut them out of the seats and send them to you. Never know until you ask.

I'm not aware of any other name for this interior color other than the GM code 25. The "D" suffix indicates what GM called a "custom cloth" seat fabric. And the "LDD1" is the "seat trim color and ordering code".

You can see all of the colors & upholstery styles available for 1977 in this brochure --> http://brochures.slosh.com/frame.shtml?1977chevy/colors

We had the seat redone at a local upholstery shop. They ordered some original cloth from SMS Auto Fabrics that was a spot-on match as far as the pattern goes. However the color was off ... it had a strange sort of green/turquoise tint as compared to the original blue. So we gave up on trying to find an exact match for the original cloth and just picked out some somewhat similar looking cloth from the upholstery shop's sample books.
