It's neat that many FDs lifted these trucks. It's not like they're all not custom/purpose built anyway. Maybe I should put on a carnival or bull roast to raise funds to raise my Suburban. the Mt. Airy VFD seems to use a mix of Fords and Chevys for support vehicles. They've always had a Suburban. I like how they put "Volunteers" in gold script on the back of those vehicles. I'm not even sure what they have for a brush truck. They used to use an M37 with full exto-cage.

I found this crappy little picture of one Chevy they have

I have no idea. I just found the picture searching the net. They look like the wheels Alcoa used to make. I think they were just blasted and painted because there's no color in the openings. I was going to powder coat a set of those in gun metal grey on the '95 K3500 custom work truck I had. But those wheels had just been discontinued. That was in the late-90s

Anyone know what wheels are on that truck towing the 6x6...I would love a set of those for my 2 door Yukon.

In our area fire and police depts sometimes put their vehicles up for auctions. I have tried several times to buy one but each time they get bought by someone in each particular community for way more than market value. Makes no sense.

You used to be able to buy surplus for cheap. Now, there is too much competition

This 1988, model CK30903 just showed up on an auction site here in Sweden. It is claimed to have just 44883 kilometers/27889 miles on it. I think I will bid on it if it doesn´t goes too high.

Great trucks. Thanks for sharing. I never knew about these until I saw some for sale on commercial truck trader sites in the early 2000s. I'd love to find one to buy. I don't think I've seen one in person

I scored a 2wd c3500-HD my self over a month ago . . I LOVE the truck over my 87k30 truck for work and daily drive use . The 8.1L and nv4500 sure make it nice tho .

Re: Picture Thread: Fire & Rescue

I've only ever seen 2 4wd HDs. You'd think in the northeast there would be more, but seems there more down south. I had an HD for a bit but sold it. Wanted to make a 4wd crew cab, but I called every yard that had a listing for HD's, couldn't find one. I found the 10 lugs hubs for $800...
