Gearing?

Wondering what kinda gearing would be good for 38s on 8" lift. mildly built 454 (mid 500hp), t400. Its a truck i drive on freeway. dont drive it on freeway much, more on back roads no faster than 55. Im upgrading my 1/2 ton axles and not sure if i wanna stick with 4.10 thats already in the 14ff i have or go to 4.56. Any tips are appreciated

Re: Gearing?

What do you use the truck for? I think a mid 500 horse "mild" big block will move it just fine with 4.10's or 4.56's on 38's. If you are doing technical trails or towing big loads might want shorter gears but I think 4.10 would be fine if you just cruise.

mainly cruise. most towing id do is pulling my jon boat, and as for offroading it would be minimal, nothing extreme by any means

I'd do 4:56 or 4:88 if it was me I was running a 5:13 on 39.5 boggers and a sm456 it was a little low but I didn't mind with all the hills we have here in West Virginia
