customer says he bought a 70 chevy truck/been in a garage several yrs /had a hole in garage roof and leaked water on the drivers door BUT window was down a little and water got in door opening{inside door} mechanism and got rusty !! now door wont open -with inner or outer latch !he says he sprayed and oiled latch as best as possible ! still wont open ! any ideas ????? cant see how it will come open w/o cutting door apart ??

I just did this on an '83. Keep oiling and work the outside and inside handles (not rough) and push lock button up and down to work the lube in. If the outside button and levers are stuck and not moving you should be able to take the seat out and remove door panel

Window down. Long screw driver pry on the door latch inside the door while you put pressure on the door with your feet from the inside.
It would help to have some one lay down in the seat to put pressure on it.
If that doesn't work, take fender off and un bolt the hinges to the door. :chevy:

Bumping the outside handle with a soft mallet will help too. (Not too hard). I'll trade you. I'm trying to get a locking gas cap out today

Also try putting firm pressure pushing the door in near the latch (not the handle).

My 1970 pass door wouldn't open, the door handle button was broken and pushed in but I was able to get the latch moving a little by pushing hard (no BFH) on the door skin to move the door in a little getting the latch to start working. Then I could open it from the inside, remove the inner panel.

From there I took out the latch itself from the door (three #3/4 phillips screws and a clipped rod inside the door) and worked it with the pb blaster til it was freed up.

Pb blaster works wonders and is cheap. Use the heck outa it. Tapping does something to loosen rust. Might have a latch if i can get it outa the door.
