Coil Relocation LS3

I found some room to re locate my coil pack

I believe that the wiring pack for the coil banks have a 1357 and 2468
So turning them upside down and backwards will confuse the ECM
Can I move the whole coil and wiring+bracket from bank1 and and bank 2
to opposite sides?

The question I have is I know there is a bank 1 Driver side and bank 2
I can "flip" the bracket upside down for mounting on the inner fender well BUT that will place the number 2 coil on number 8 spark plug

This whole operation will only cost the addition of a 24" coil extension wire
and plug & play and the plug wires are long enough, so no change there/

Coils are not cylinder or bank specific. All that matters is that the trigger wire matches the plug wire. In other words, the trigger wire for cylinder three goes to the coil that feeds current to plug #3.

I relocated mine to the inner fenders. The intent is to eventually stick some cooler valvecovers on the engine.

Thanks....... Got It

Yes that is my objective also

I think just milling the nubs off the valve covers will increase the looks by by 75%

After that I am sure there is something I can do to them beside painting them !

Where did you get the 24 inch extension cable for the coil pack?

I read somewhere that milling those nubs off the valve covers adds like 10-15 hp...........hehe...

but you could use a set of ls to sbc valve cover adapters and then use sbc covers..lots of choices in sbc covers...I'm thinking about trying to adapt some 348/409 covers for my ls3...I've been thinking a lot on how to make it work and look right..without looking out of place...

I tried that, and yes it looks great, but the oil fill and the PCV you must be more creative than I!

I didn't use an extension. I made my own engine/PCM harness. The coil wiring splits off back at the transmission and runs up the frame rails.

hey have you had any issues with that ICT billet power steering bracket? I have one on a swapped firebird and its already broken a bolt once and flexes like no other. Also the the pulley alignment leaves a lot to be desired. Just curious if you have had issues as mine has shredded a few belts.

If you mill the coil mount bosses off the valve covers they leave the bottoms of the threaded holes visible. They will need to be filled in with something.

If you plan to paint the covers, JB weld can be used to fill the holes and can be sanded just like body filler.

Re: Coil Relocation LS3

It looks like they give you "filler" bolts that hold down the coil pack!
I am just going to screw the double "bolt" back in the blind hole and trim them off to the surface of the cover
That was nice of them to provide filler bolts !!
I do like the J B Weld also, we will see which one takes less time !
