Project make it reliable c10 with an ls swap
 

So after several years of collecting parts, and parts trucks, I am starting a build. It all started with a k10, then another then, then a c10 and another. I was going to just build the k10, but after moving I realized how much I enjoyed using the c10, so why not build both? This is chapter 1.
So when I got the first c10 it was strictly for the roof but I fell in love with it, even though it had issues( body cancer, a v8 swap done wrong, and a mishmash of odds and ends). So to deal with the body cancer I found another c10 that I could rob parts from, problem there was it was in too good of shape to cut up. So I tore them both apart and decided that the first c10 would get built. It's a leaf spring truck, with an older restoration, at least that's what my guess is. Anyway here's some pictures of what it was when I got it.

So today I started cleaning and took some smaller pieces off , nothing too exciting, had to hang it up early so I could pick my daughter up from school.
You can see some of the body cancer, but the frame is in pretty good shape. When they were restoring it last time they apparantly put rubber under coating on everything, so that will be fun to remove. But I guess it could be worse.

Ok haven't done too much since last post, I did build a makeshift welder cart ( my 5 year old daughter helped), that has a couple of design faults, but with a little modification will work fine (my fault not the 5 year olds). I tried to mount/ mock up the 4.8, the factory style 73-80 mounts didn't work ( motor side, not frame side). And I ordered about $1200 in parts. To include dirty dingo sliders, and a bunch of patch panels, new stainless brake lines, and cab rubber from GMCPauls, also deer season started today, so this might take a while. I should also mention, I have ZER0 bodywork experience, have only read about it, I can weld hoping I don't screw it up.

Lol, I wouldn't say brave, maybe dumb! Lol. A friend of mine, who has spent his life working on cars body and mechanical both, told me. "Those that can do, those that can't make payments." I don't like payments so I'm going to see if I can or can't.

Got a little bit done today, well really I did too much. Got the 4.8 mocked up with dirty dingo sliders and I might be able to get by with my hacked up drive shaft, I will probably replace it at some point, but I want to get her on the road first. The too much comes from me chopping rust away and then realizing that I already chopped up the section from the donor, so now I am at a standstill, I think I can piece her back together with minimal problems, I'll just have to tap into my welding skills. Enough talking here's the pics. Oh and I started measuring and laying out where to cut to keep the factory clearance lights, and my donor roof has a cargo light, so it's a win, win.

Would like to know what parts did you use to get motor install.
