Windshield Thickness

Anyone know the thickness of the factory windshield? I have searched internet and only found one that listed as 6mm. Not sure if that is correct or correct for these trucks.

Thanks for the measurements. Don't remember using metric back then but I guess it is possible.

So easy a "caveman" can do it.

I know all about that. I worked at a valve manufacturing plant from 74 to 86. 6 of those years were as an inspector and we only used decimal measurements. We did not use metric then. Metric has become more common since then.

I've got a customer that's having a glass manufacturer build him "quiet" glass for his windshield, rear window and sides for his crew cab like they use in higher end luxury cars. The stock windshield was 6mm if I remember correctly when I got him measurements. Haven't gotten the new glass yet but I'm sure they'll be as thick or thicker than stock on the front and rear, the sides are suppose to be 2mm thicker than stock. Not sure how well it'll help with quieting down the truck but we'll see....I know it's definitely a LOT more expensive than factory replacement glass lol

Is '73-'80 windshield glass thicker than '81-'87 ('91)?

I'd love to learn the name of the manufacturer willing to do this.

My '74 is .290"
The replacement is .170 and couldn't find any OEM thickness anywhere.

Thank you. That is thicker than the previous stated thickness by someone of 6mm. 6mm converts to .236. .290 converts to 7.5mm. I know for sure that when I get mine replaced, hopefully soon, I will measure it and report back.
