Looking for ideas where to mount the fuse box, ECM, and Trans control module on my 66 c10. Engine is the GM LSX376/480 with GM performance harness. Trans is 4L65e. truck is getting Vintage Air as well. Looking to hide ECM as well as possible. If you have pics of your mounting locations, that would be great!

From past experience your gonna have a lot of crap and not much space...dont know about a gmp harness as far as length..I've always used psi harness..my next will be a BP harness..the BP has a longer wire bundle that will allow all that to be mounted under the seat...psi is to short to reach under the seat..
On my C30 I've got it all crammed above the hvac box and glove box...def not ideal...on my IH I mounted it on the cab side of the firewall, and built a cover for it..its all gonna depend on how long the harness is and what all occupies the space between point a and point b..

Whatever you do, don't install the ECM underneath the battery. If the battery off-gases or leaks, there shouldn't be anything critical nearby.

I wish my engine harness would have been long enough to mount everything inside under the console but I wanted to keep costs down and it was cheaper to get my factory harness reworked. It only allowed me to mount on the forward part of the ds inner fender. I compensated a bit by having the air filter over it to partially hide it from view.
Where does that GM performance harness want to run? Have you mounted it on the motor to see how it lays?, which way the tail end points?

On my 68 LS1 swap I mounted the ecm and and relays behind the glove box. I had to section the glove box liner a bit to make room. I mounted the fuse block and OBII/CEL port to the heater box. Can't see it unless you are looking for it. I then ran the engine harness out below the heater box.
Your E38 ecm and tcm are much smaller than the previous LS1 ecm's so that should help.
The ecm and tcm are weather proof. The fuse block and OBII port I like to keep inside the car/truck.

I have a decent amount of length, but not enough to get under the seat. Right now doing final assembly on the chassis while body man is doing paint. Should be able to mount cab on chassis in about 2 weeks. With the Vintage Air unit behind the glove box it’s going to be tight no matter where I go.

I’m not to this yet and working on my first so I just have questions instead of answers.
Does this box need to stay cool or have airflow?
I’m not likely to do anything fancy with it but just curious if there are other things to consider when placing it.

The factory puts them under the hood, so you’re pretty much wide open on mounting locations.
