Looks Good!

Gregsmx 12-29-2003 04:16 PM

CRRoy, that mild lift looks real good. Could you do me a favor and measure from the ground to the bed of the truck at the tailgate? Also, what size tires are on the truck.

I think my Blazer also has a 2" lift and I'm trying to verify this.
Thanks, Greg.

bigblock73 12-29-2003 06:58 PM

Looks good, will it still fit in the garage? :)

CRRoy71 12-30-2003 12:25 AM

gregsmx, I will try to get that measurement tomorrow for you, and those are 32" tires.

bigblock73, it still fits barely. I thought I was going to have to let some air out of the tires to get it out.

85 K5 12-30-2003 08:26 PM

Are you getting any driveline vibration now? Mine does, 2-2.5 lift and 33" tires. Had to drop the transfer case, put the bolt mounting spacers between the crossmember and the frame.

CRRoy71 12-30-2003 09:33 PM

gregsmx, I have 53" from the ground to the top of the closed tailgate. I hope that's what you meant.

85 k5, I am not getting any vibration at all. It rides real good.

Gregsmx 12-30-2003 11:59 PM

CRRoy, thanks for the measurement. I must have a bit more lift. I'm 53.5" with 29" tires. That would calculate to a 4" lift. But there is no blocks on the lift and only 1 additional leaf on the front spring and rear. I'm not sure how that much lift can be in my truck with just an add a leaf.

This is verified as the height from the ground to the bed is 34". A K-10 (4wd) shows to be 29 1/4" in the manufactures' specifications.

85K5 the vibration you feel in your seat when you accellerate hard out of the hole is due to the fact that your drive shaft to axle angle was at too steep an angle after the lift. If you'd like to put your XFER case bushings back in the correct location, you can insert a wedge shaped spacer between the leafs and the rear axle, giving the axle a canter or angle that will raise the u-joint coupler upwards thus reducing the angle between the axle and the drive shaft.

Ideally, there should be a small angle between axle joint and drive shaft, just enought that under hard accelleration, the axle angle will diminish to 0 or close to it.

Hope this is helpful, Greg.

Thanks for the info, Greg. Sorry to have hijacked the post. The severe angle is at the transfer case. I have tapered blocks which make the driveline almost straight with the axle, as you said it should be. It's ok like it is, sometimes I think I see too much hanging down underneath for a normal stance. Vibration was not only during acceleration but also at freeway cruising speeds, starting at around 40-45 mph. No vibration like it is now.

i have a 2" lift and fit 33/12.5 tires

cochino12 01-19-2004 01:30 AM

maybe I missed it in your post, do you have a shackle lift in the rear or did you use a block?

CRRoy71 01-19-2004 01:36 AM

Adam, if you are asking me, I put new 2.5" springs all the way around.

IoWnZa 01-19-2004 04:46 PM

Look's very nice.

I have no lift and have 32x11.50's and they fit with plenty of room. I made sure and tested out a pair a friend had before I went w/o a lift. I just don't want to ruin my gas mileage worse then it already is.

CRRoy71 can you tell me how tall your truck is now? I have a new 4" and thinking I will go with a 2" so I can fit in the parking garage. I think I missed the size of your wheels, I see you are running 32" tires though. Would you mind posting a pic of your truck from the front? Thanks

Adam

CRRoy71 01-27-2004 09:59 PM

Adam, Overall I am at 6'4" with 15" wheels.
I will go out tomorrow and get a front pic for you.

cochino12 01-27-2004 11:43 PM

thanks for the measurements. Where did you get the 2" springs? all I can seem to find are 4" or add a leafs

CRRoy71 01-28-2004 09:58 AM

I got mine from here. I called them and got to talking to the guy, who also had an 86 Blazer, and got it cheaper than the website prices.

cochino12 01-28-2004 12:46 PM

Are your wheels 15*8 or 15*10?
