another use for an extra behind the seat gas tank.

I got tired of running about 2 hours into town several days a week to dump my used oil.
Solution: I took an extra behind-the-seat gas tank, washed it out, cut 2 small holes in the bottom on either end, cut the sending unit out and then I welded the fittings from 2 55 gallon drums to the gas tank. The two smaller fittings were welded to the bottom, one of the large fittings was welded on where the sending unit was and the last large fitting was welded to the gas tank filler neck.
Now I have a used oil tank that seals and is easily emptied that can bolt into the back of my truck.

Anybody have any similar ideas?

If you nail them to a sheet of plywood they make a great raft.

Also a good foot rest under the bench in the garage...

Great!

i actually tossed around the idea of insulating the inside of it and making it into a speaker box....and leaving it behind the seat....

Could have washed it out, insulate the outside really good, fill the tank with beer of choice, get extra long straws for filler neck. Great party truck then! lol

Fill with concrete and use as a dock anchor. :D

seal it up hide your nitrous in it.....

Drain gas from tank, bu tdon't make a huge effort trying to get all of it out. Leave fumes inside. Tie to back of truck on open traffic-free road (preferably at night). Floor it. Hope that sparks ignite fumes in tank. Repeat as necessary.

I kind of like the idea of turning it into a speaker box, but that is one BIG speaker box

1: canteen for those long hot summer days,
2: bobber...used for fishing,
3: cut in half length-wise use as bbq, just add legs hinges and handle.
4: coffee table....stack required number for required height.
5: for those that "SMOKE" it would make a huge bong
6: drum set for the little one....cut and seal different size pieces.

7: last but not least.....put it behind the seat of a truck and call it a gas tank

Mrs72shadetree 01-03-2004 05:35 AM

leave it there and put under bed tank in with a hidden filler.fill the old up with some gas/sugar/water /clorax or anything for those a@#holes that was stealing my gas while were gone out on road had to put a locking cap on everything this week......

This has to be, by far, is the wildest thing I've ever heard. :burnout:

Around here if the EPA would see you at a drop off point they would nail you for hauling hazardous waste fine you a$$ take your truck and make you pay for the rest of your life to cleanup the worlds toxic zones. Funny thing is if you take in 100 1 quart containers its ok but if you bring in bulk you become a hazardous waste hauler. I don't know at what level bulk it becomes a problem but the EPA police have their own rules.

You must be talking about the oil storage idea. I can see how that could cause a problem. They may want to charge you as if you were a mechanic.

another one ....

8: Split the tank at the seam use it for a big wide drain pan...............perfect for catching all the coolant when doing radiator work

DanoDMano 01-03-2004 03:03 PM

Cut it in half lengthwise, tie it behind a 1967-1972 chevy truck, and use it as a sled to fly down the street!! Its snowing like a "Big Dog" here, and that dont happen very often!!!:D

Right up the road from ya Danno. I've been trying to think of a way to convert the Sea-Doo's to snowmobiles for the weekend.
Guess I'll have to use the Jeep's instead.

Cat Fuzz 01-03-2004 03:39 PM

Snowing is Puyallup?? That unusual. People over there must be in a panic.

bow-tie-bandit 01-03-2004 10:44 PM

Geez it must be snowing like a Great Big Dog here then. Enjoy it while you can because you will be back to the usual rain again before you know it.:D
