as i was torquing down my rear spring plates one of the 4 ears broke off, book says 150lbs , i was between 130-150. my question is the correct way having the plate on the bottom or top? looking at my book it shows them on top. its a dana 60, the 3500 pic is how i have them

I think the "K" models pic is for 67-68 with the 3" width tapered leaf springs. The spring plate on my 68 sits flush on top of the spring like in the picture. In 1969 they changed over to 2-1/2" width springs and probably changed the style of plate. It looks like the plate cups the axle in the 3500 picture.

sometimes these books play games lol, im thinkin now after i put in a 4'' spring lift in i ordered new u-bolts for 2-3/4 wide springs when i have 2-1/2'', i had to force the bolts thru the plate holes. im a bonehead at times and i think this is why it broke
