Inherited a 1962 C10 in parts - need some help

4 Attachment(s)
I inherited a 1962 SWB in parts (cab VIN shows it was originally a 2wd SWB Fleetside) but the frame is a 4wd. My father in-law bought it in the 80's and took it apart and now I'm putting it back together but want it as a 2wd. The frame seems to be from a 67-72 4wd. Can anyone help confirm the frame year? And is it worth converting it to a 2wd or selling it to someone and buying a 2wd frame? Appreciate any input or help. Thanks!

62 would have been an X frame, frame is also narrower than other years. Probably hard to find a 60-63 swb frame....frame you have looks like mid 80's

The frame you have is looks to be a 68-72 4wd frame. Definitely worth selling the 4wd frame to someone building a 4wd and picking up a more correct 2wd frame for your truck.

Since you have a 62, the easiest way would be to find a 60-62 frame so the cab and body mounts line up. A later year front crossmember will swap in place of the torsion bar front crossmember if you want to run could.
However, you could also use a 63-66 frame, but a little modification would be needed for mounting the 62 body

This would be the correct 62 frame.

Thanks for all the replies. I do have access to a 62 rolling chassis but was trying to sort out if it would be easier to convert the frame I have to 2wd or deal with the Eaton HO32 rearend on the 62 setup.

I'll post the 4wd frame I have for sale and grab the 62 frame to get started. Appreciate all the help!

Forum member Captainfab makes some new axle mounting pads that you can weld on to a later year axle if you don’t want to run the HO32. I think he makes it for a couple different axles
