Seeking edgucation about factory installation of carpet

I'm asking about the 71-72 years, but feel free to educate on 67-72, thank you.

It's my understanding the 71-72 Custom (Z60) and Custom Deluxe (Z62) came standard with a floor mat, and I would guess these took the fiber board fuel tank cover.

And Cheyenne (Z84) and Super (YE9) came standard with carpet. Not positive on the tank cover for these, my Fremont Super only had fiber insulation wrapped over it, perhaps something was changed. Apparently carpet insulation was common in these, not positive.

Was carpet an option for Z60 and/or Z62?

Z84 and YE9 got pedal trim, you figure that was because the floor was carpeted? In other terms, would the factory have installed the pedal trim if Z60 or Z62 was carpeted? I don't assume pedal trim was called out as build/spid option, not sure.

My 68 Custom built in Fremont has Z62 which in 68 was the "Comfort & Convenience" package, which turned to Custom Deluxe later. So it was the halfway step between Custom and CST. It still had a color keyed rubber floor mat and the cardboard tank cover. The only interior stuff added over a base Custom was the padded door panels and the full depth foam seat. It still had base pedal pads no trim.

Maybe that info is in the Factory Assembly Manual?

The manual shows carpet, pedal and trim, but doesn't give the when or why.

FWW, the RPO are in post 360, here https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...730025&page=15. I scanned them and don't see anything about carpet or pedals. There is....

X52 Interior Convenience Group- Includes roof trim, sunshades, door trim and floor mat). Hmm, what truck didn't have sunshades? Maybe they're different than "visors".

X57 is Custom Interior Convenience Group - Includes seat trim, roof trim sunshades, door trim and floor mat.

X58 Cab insulation. ?

X59 Heavy duty cab insulation. ?

0170 Interior Convenience Group - Includes arm Rest, sunshade, seat trim, trim panels and floor mat.

I think on base trucks they would only get a single visor on the driver side. So there was probably an option to get the passenger side.

I wonder if the insulation is in reference to the firewall pad? I know base models in 67/68 didnt have it based on the GM heritage center stuff and some old brochures I have. The firewall insulation pad was added when you got at least a Custom trim level, could also mean some kind of padding under the rubber mat. My truck had the tar stuff still under the rubber mat.

my 72 Cheyenne Super C-20,YE9 and Z84 custom sport truck, built in Fremont,Ca,has carpet and pedal trim, but not called out with all the other RPO options on the bottom part of the build sheet.it does say on the top part,in box 92 "mat carpet front" AF- and the next block 93 says "mat carpet rear" and says open, the next block isn't numbered but also says open.i'm guessing suburban?i could be wrong and probably am but i thought the trucks that had gas tank covers, were bucket seat trucks?i have never had a bucket seat truck but don't remember a gas tank cover in and of my bench seat trucks?there isn't one in this truck.
