wanted..gen 1 bat tray help
I am reassembling my '72 and having trouble w/ the battery tray. Where exactly does it go? The PO rigged a tray by welding it @ 3 points on the psgr side inner fender.
My assembly manual shows it backing up to the radiator support, but I can't see exactly where. Does anyone have pix that would help me out? I will also be going w/2 bats. Has anyone squeezed them both on one side, or have you put one @ each side? Thanks :flag: |

orginal tray bolts in here--nuts are welded on-2 in rad.support and one on inder fender.

batteries
I used 2 18-wheeler batteries. They won't fit stock trays, so this may not help. I made my own trays and welded them in where the stock trays originally bolted in: the uprights on either side of the radiator. I also turned them 90 degrees.

mister.freeze,
Wow!!! Is that to run winches or what? You need a fourcylinder generator to charge all that. I'm just joking around. I like the looks of your clean engine compartment. Dan |
Batts
Thanks! I've put a lot of hours under the hood. The batteries are charged by a 110 Amp alternator converted to a 1-wire setup so that I always have 110 amps on tap. I do have a 10 winch, so it helps. The extra power really is for those times I run the radio for a weekend or all my lights all night. Not too many folks can give me a jump in some of the places I can go.

Thanks for the info.
