The 1 ton 4x4 made its debute in 1978. 14 bolt FF and a D60 front.
The 8 lug rigs of the 67-72 era are rated at 3/4 ton and quite a few will have an Eaton rear axle, and some have a Factory Detroit in them as well.
D44 fronts with the closed knuckle till 71 I believe. External hubs, big suckers too.
external hubs went till 76 then the internal ones. for 3/4 ton rigs.
In 78 The general decided to install a D60 front axle and call it a K30.
Either in a dually or a SRW rig, regular cab or a 4 door(3+3)
