Generally in a truck application you would end up with a forged crank. The only way I know to tell for sure is to look at the parting line of the crank. If it is forged it will be pretty wide. If it is cast it will be very narrow. You really can't see this with the engine together. Either way it is a great engine. Maybe some one else knows a way to tell with out the engine being apart, however with it being as old as it is, who can guarantee everything is original? The only advantage to a large journal 327 is you can put a 350 crank in it, to make a ...350!
