I would set the body on the late frame. It seems that all you would have to do is level out the body, possibly move some body mounts and build some spacers where the body doesn't touch.This is how the majority I have ever seen are done. If not you may have to build some new crossmembers, and I think it would be a big job getting everything set in square. The only big part on the frame swap will be a steering shaft and clutch linkage if it's a 4 speed. Compare the two frames, they may be close.
