Best laid plans.............

I had some spare time so I thought I'd rant a little.
Nothing Major, just wondering how many MORE of you have gone through a similar experience.

When I traded my 96 Tahoe for my 72 GMC Fleetside Shortbed, I KNEW it would need a lot of work.
My Wife gave me a Birthday present of $1K in CASH to use on it!

My INITIAL plans were to Vacuum/Clean/Detail it, and then take it to my Mechanic for a Safety Check. (Tune-up/Brakes,Tranny,Radiator Flush ect), and spend about $500.00.
I was then going to go to a local upholster to have my seat redone.
Well there turned out to be more ""issues" than 1st thought, so the bill was about $850.00, (well there goes the recovered seat).

My 2nd thought was to put new exhaust from the Mufflers back with 3 1/2" Chrome Cone exhaust exiting in Front of the rear wheels.
My mechanic told me that the pipes were Tack Welded to the Frame and there were NO HANGERS, (so I've yet to really Punch/Torque the engine).

Well then I found out that the Front/Rear Springs were cut by the previous owner, so now the Ride Quality reared its ugly head. That changed the Priorities from the Exhaust to the Ride aspect.
So NOW the Priority is a Lowered Spring Kit and Shortened Shocks.

My next plan is (4) New B.F. Goodrich Tires and a set of 2 1/2" Chrome Rings w/ Chrome Center Caps, and then finally the Exhaust/Tips.

After that will be Door/Window Tracks/Molding and then I think that's it until NEXT Spring.

Just AMAZES ME, how Priorities can change with the Blink of an eye!

Roger
