What I've seen, and plan on doing to my 68 is using an 80's El Camino or any Wagon as the same body as the Camino, of that era, Buick had some nice tails which will inter change.
The tails are in the bumper, and are sealed.
You won't have a step, as for a trailer hitch if you tow just get a receiver hitch and modify the mounting of the hitch.

Looks really clean and nice, sorry I don't have pics of one on, but could take pics of the one I'm going to use.
