Dont you have an internally regulated alternator? Sounds to me like you have a ground problem. Make sure the ground cable from the battery is in good shape and not corroded. Also it should have a good clean connection to the engine. Then make sure you have a good ground from the engine to the frame and from the frame to the body. Good luck.
