The plates were very easy, just some bar stock, and angle iron. The hard part was locating the engine correctly. I positioned it about 5/8" higher than the original 283 and one inch forward, tilted back 4 degrees per normal. Once I finally got it positioned I tack welded the plates to the cross member with scrap angle. Then I could unbolt the mounts, pull the engine out and then correctly position and weld the final angle mounts that give the 3 bolt holes to mount to the frame, then knock off the temporary angles.
The engine is very easy to get in and out, and I have done it 4 or 5 times. Just hang it over the cross member and drop in the 6 bolts. You can easily reach the nuts on the inside of the cross member.
The mounts are oil filled hydraulic, very nice.
